Shapes and Forms
The sofal Dish and articles presented are generally are 4 groups based on their usage
1-The Burial articles (Daily Usage)
These articles were used for grains and seeds storage which were used in daily basis and in some areas these articles were buried with along with the dead persons based on their custom and believes they use to leave food for the dead
These Forms contains Fully decorated forms with lots of designed and their history dates back to second 1000 B.c found in the archaeological The Area of Shoosh
Desina forms (containers) ,these articles were discovered in Ghaghar Zanbil archaeological area date back to the 3rd 1000th B.C
2-Ceremonial Articles:
These articles were used in religious ceremonies in the Temples and holly Fire places the simple articles s were discovered in Fars and dates back to Achaemenian era
And These articles were made in the shapes of animal heads such as lion goat .... or human body and used as drinking mugs to drink the holly wine in the temples and ceremonies The Marlik Cow or articles resemble human which were discovered by archeologists in Marlik ,Amlash in Gilan also the discovery of such these articles in Uzbekistan ,Cyprus is indication of Cultural Exchanges among the different ethnic groups in those eras
3-Water Mugs
These articles are use for Drinking and storage of water or other liquids

The Technical Characteristics of Fartash Sofals

The clay is collected from a re activated mine from Abarsaj in Shhrood area

The sofals are backed by 950-100 C heat in Persian Traditional method in a made of brick Owen heated by ceresin fuel

The finishing Colors are obtained transitional metals such as Cupper, Ferroxide and others...

The color themes are pure Old Persian color such as Turquoise Blue which is known universally as the Persian or Mohammedan Blue

Most sofals are Musical Earthenware type which dates back to 300B.C and found in Gorgan ,Damghan area the discovered archaeological articles from Turang Tappeh and Barim Tappeh In Golistan Province .reflect musical sound when stroked
